Vacation Day 1: The Grass Isn’t Always Greener on the Other Side.

Actually the grass is not even real in Vegas.. but anyway.

Today I made my way to the airport anticipating a long drawn out flying session. Surprisingly, the 2.5 hour trip to New York, the 6 hour flight to Los Angeles and the 1 hour flight to Vegas didn’t seem that bad, even with waiting about 2 hours between each flight. I’m pretty lucky that my dad can be as laid back as me, because I really wasnt looking forward to dealing with any tension, it made the trip so much better. I was pretty happy to say I have seen and flown over the Pacific (the plane circled over it before turning towards Vegas).

Desert, Canyon? I don't know. But I like it.

The best part of flying definitely had to be the trip to Los Angeles. We flew over the Rockies (I think) and it was awe inspiring. I have never seen so much mountain, so much grey and white.
Eventually, we came to an area of miles and miles of desert and what looked like canyons. It was amazing to see such large natural formations.
Vegas was pretty funny to fly into. Desert… desert… mountains… desert….. CITY!
Now the grass may not be greener on the other side of the US, it’s actually pretty brown, but it’s still pretty cool.

When you are in Vegas, you know you are in Vegas. Slot machines, ads, and more slot machines lined the airport walls. Even in the shuttle to the resort was preceded by some dude trying to sell the passengers deals.
When we reached the Tahiti Village, only 5 mins from the airport, everything was smooth sailing. I said I felt like a celebrity yesterday, well this just confirmed it.

Our accommodations included two rooms joined together. We decided to just take a room each. On my side, a mini kitchen, living room, giant bathroom and a cozy bedroom. My dad’s side has the same, just about 2 times bigger for everything, plus a big whirlpool and balcony. We both had 2 tvs each and all the essentials (like a dishwasher). By this time it was 9pm in Vegas and we were at 1am Bermuda time. First thing to deal with, internet. Turns out they don’t offer wireless*! Second thing, get something to drink. There was nothing in the fridge and we were feeling pretty lazy so we figured we’d boil some water in a coffee maker then put it in the freezer to chill it. I never got around to drinking it because we were caught up talking about what we had lined up for tomorrow and then headed to our king sized beds.

*This posting was created on Day 2. However, because I found an internet connection a day later, I am setting this post to appear as if it was posted on Day 1. Confusing? Not really.
