There Was Elvis, The Beatles… Then Now the King of Pop
While watching the memorial coverage, my dad was inspired to write this piece.
The moon walker who said “I’m bad!”.
King Michael was his name
He was and is no more!
Was here but now is Gone
The People Mourn
The People – Black and White
The Rich and Poor
The enemies and friends from earth’s remotest ______ they came to laugh, to sing, and dance and weep and ‘prove’ that life in all its glory is like said – but vanity.
Hundreds here, thousands there, millions from around the world
They reflected – They mourned.
Then Lionel Richie sang a song, and called another’s name: J-E-S-U-S
Jesus Christ, superstar some called him…
He died, was crucified, and abandoned.
Few Mourned, many mocked.
This Jesus never sought – and hardly got the fame that Michael knew.
But then the purpose Jesus came was neither for money nor for fame.
But that the world, yes you and me would one day be
THE STAR HE MEANT FOR US TO BE
For one day all who trust in him now
Will see
The King of Kings and Lord of Lords!
